It’s a cold, hard fact that bad guys prefer to conduct business under the cloak of darkness. And that’s why good guys employ tools that give them an edge when working the night shift. Night-vision optics such as weapon-mounted thermal and IR scopes, thermal binoculars and laser sights are effective for apprehending criminals in the dark of night and for keeping duty officers safe. Thermal imagers can assist them in emergency situations where normal visibility is reduced, impaired or ineffective. Outlaws might be able to hide from sight — especially in the dark — but they cannot hide the heat signature produced by their bodies. And since thermal imagers don’t project a beam of light, suspects are often unaware they are being monitored and officers can observe potential criminal activity from a safe distance. Officers with thermal imagers can also help maintain perimeters when fleeing suspects are confined within a small area, and tactical teams can use thermal imaging equipment to maintain complete surprise over suspects inside a building they are about to breach. ATN ODIN LT 320 2-4X Thermal Monocular
American Technology Network (ATN) recently launched the ODIN LT series of compact thermal monoculars in six models — ergonomically designed to be used handheld or mounted on a helmet or other piece of headgear. The ODIN LT 320 2-4X features the Obsidian LT core, which provides sharp, crisp images at extended ranges utilizing a single-use CR123A battery or optional rechargeable battery. It has a 19mm objective lens, with a human detection range of 535 meters. The ODIN LT 320 has a 2-4X magnification range and images appear on a 1280x960 pixel screen. Bering Optics Super Yoter R
The Super Yoter R compact thermal weapon sight from Bering Optics features advanced 12µm vanadium oxide (VOx) 640x480 core resolution with a 50Hz refresh rate that makes it a great choice for target engagement at medium- and long-range distances. This Wi-Fi-capable thermal scope is available in three models, one with a native magnification of 3X and the others 2X and 1.5X, with a digital zoom of 2X and 4X.
